Depending the weather, the tour begins climbing to Monserrate top to see the breathtaking landscape.
After descending we will continue to ¨Plaza de Bolívar¨ where you will appreciate the Prime Cathedral, the Presidential Palace, the National Capitol, Casa 20 de Julio, Lievano Palace (the Mayor’s Office) and the Justice Palace. then, we will walk (or in the car) through the streets of La Candelaria Old town, the historic district, and observe its surprising colonial architecture and the district’s different attractions, such as the Botero Museum, (closed tuesdays) the Colon Theater, the Chorro de Quevedo and the Eje Ambiental.
The next step of the tour will be the Gold Museum, (closed mondays) home of the world’s largest pre–Hispanic gold work collection, which is just a short stroll away. Afterwards, we will make a brief stop to learn about the emeralds mining and cut process.
After lunch time, we will continue to see the west side and the north side. (modern neighborghoods, zona rosa, parque 93 and Usaquén area).
At the end of the excursion, you will be dropped off at your hotel or at a convenient place within the urban area.
Monserrate is a mountain that dominates the city centre of Bogotá. It rises to 3200 mts. above the sea level, where there are an small chapell remains (built in the 17th century) and a catholic church (20th century) with a shrine, devoted to “El Señor Caído” (Fallen Lord).
