This is a combination of the two main tours in Bogotá:
Salt Cathedral Visit and Basic City Tour:
Starting the tour you will visit one of Latin America’s wonders: a gigantic cathedral, which was built inside a salt mine. To visit this magnificent work of engineering we will go under the earth’s surface to find a beautiful artistic collection of salt and sand rock sculptures and a quiet religious environment. Then you will visit the quaint town of Zipaquirá, whose beautiful colonial buildings are considered to be National Monuments.
The second part continues climbing up to Monserrate top to see the breathtaking landscape.
After descending we will continue to ¨Plaza de Bolívar¨ where you will appreciate the Prime Cathedral, the Presidential palace, the National Capitol, Casa 20 de Julio, Lievano palace (the Mayor’s office) and the Justice palace. Then, we will walk (or in the car) through the streets of La Candelaria Old town, the historicl district, and observe its surprising colonial architecture and the district’s different attractions, such as the Botero Museum, (closed tuesdays) the Colon theater, the Chorro de Quevedo and the Eje Ambiental. The next step of the tour will be the Gold Museum, (closed mondays) home of the world’s largest pre-hispanic gold work collection, which is just a short stroll away. Afterwards, we will make a brief stop to learn about the emeralds mining and cut process.
At the end of the excursion, you will be dropped off at your hotel or in a convenient place within the urban area.
